Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Inspection Project Manager to play a key role on our team in Norwood, MA. This candidate will have an opportunity to work on and manage some of the largest and most complex inspection projects in the region. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management and structural inspections who can bring creative practices and problem solving skills, balanced with a solid background in the field. This position requires the ability to manage large inspection projects, liaise with clients and government agencies, and direct teams. This position is a mix of office and fieldwork with some local travel. Experience with MassDOT beneficial. Opportunity for client interaction and business development.

 

SUMMARY

 

The Project Manager II plans, designs, and directs projects by performing the following duties.

Position Description

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Publishes engineering papers and/or articles.
  • Responsible for projects of varying size and complexity from inception to completion
  • Takes an active role in contract negotiations, project planning, project quality, and project profitability.
  • Oversees project budgets.  
  • Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
  • Ensures accurate client billings and monitors outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Provides leadership in client management, proposal preparation, project scoping, and estimating project costs
  • Responsible for maintaining meaningful relationships with clients.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Directs and supervises the work of project teams and support staff.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
  • Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university. 5 years or more experience in project management. 
  • Experience in the inspection and/or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports.
  • Successful completion of the NHI Inservice Bridge Inspection Course required.
  • Experience with Project Management strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Valid driver’s license
